Lake Vermilion walleye

Steve Roddy with a nice 24.5″ Lake Vermilion walleye.

Lake Vermilion fishing mid-May 2016 found our guests of the second weekend of the season catching another nice mix of walleyes – with plenty to fry in the skillet and many taking their limits home as well.  Like last weekend, minnows were the bait of choice – and the weather was so nice we almost felt guilty – after the conditions folks faced the weekend prior.  At any rate, more good size walleyes were caught and released, with some parts of the weekend being described as “too nice” when the winds were calm and the sky was clear blue.

Congratulations to Tyler Glad and Shane Holmen who placed 4th in the City Auto Glass Walleye Classic held on Saturday.  They reported catching at least 15 fish between the 20-24″ range just on Saturday.  Adam Vanderlinden and his son Caden had a nice variety in their catch, with some eater walleyes and big largemouth bass, and they found themselves in perch heaven when they honed in on a spot where they caught 40 jumbo perch and a nice musky that decided to join in the fun.  As we have said before – make sure you have the RIGHT net – as theirs was not up to the task.

It’s a recurring them, but we have to take this chance to thank our many returning guests who spent the weekend with us – we appreciate your continued business along with those first timers who made our Lake Vermilion resort their home base.   Thanks too to all of you who sent pictures.  They are up on our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Everett.Bay.Lodge.Lake.Vermilion.
