Lake Vermilion fishing finds the latter part of August settling into a normal pattern. The musky action was pretty steady last week, with several caught and many seen and missed. Summer has arrived on Lake Vermilion, although it took a long time to get here! Water temps took a nice jump up this past week, climbing over 5 degrees to pass the 80 degree mark. Late July fishing on Vermilion had its ups and down, with the smallmouth bass providing the most consistent action. Guests reported a variety of fish, with panfish, northern and some muskies being caught, but walleyes were a bit slower than we would have expected this late in the month. Plenty of Lake Vermilion Bass Action
Plenty of Lake Vermilion bass action helped pick up the slack for the less consistent walleye bite last week. We were able to sneak out Monday after dinner and kept 7 for Tuesday's dinner, and while a handful of guests did just fine catching their limits of walleyes, others seemed to struggle.
