This guy can catch fish!

Everett Bay Lodge dock fishing May 2017

Lake Vermilion late May fishing has continued to produce many limits for the skillet. The week started out with some first time Lake Vermilion guests settling in and eventually finding the walleyes more than cooperative.  The Tinsley guys weathered some pretty lousy conditions but with rain gear and boots they got the hang of the lake and were nothing but smiles.  A quick jaunt out for Dave & Val found them out and back with their two limits in less than an hour.   The Ayers had one complaint – they were too full from one of their several walleye dinners.  The Memorial weekend activities shifted a little more toward family gatherings, but those who fished ate fish!

The pictures of these young guys fishing off the dock show one of the best parts of being here on the lake all season.  Their lofty plans to get up at 5 in the morning to go out and the laughs and stories they share while they are all out there on the dock for hours on end are priceless.   They will remember these times forever – and when they do, they’ll remember the bay to be larger, and the northern that grabbed their bluegill to be 3 ft. long – they’ll remember who they were with.

Some of the fish our guests told us about include:

Walleyes:  24.5″ Burl Tinsley, 24.25″ Burl Tinsley, 23.25″ Andy Tinsley, 22″ Andy Tinsley

Smallmouth Bass:  20″ Tony Tinsley

Largemouth Bass:  19.5″ Dylan Ealy

Minnows continue to be the bait of choice, and water temps continue to sit just under 55 degrees.  The next couple days of temps over 70 degrees will help move the water temp along.

If you haven’t made your plans yet for a trip to beautiful Lake Vermilion this year, there is still time.  The month of June is completely full, but the week of July 1st there is one full week and another partial.  One spot July 8th week.  A cancellation the week of July 22nd has freed up a spot that week as well.

Stop wishing…..Come fishing!
