“Is it gonna rain?” That was the question of the week. As June 21st found us already 50% over our usual June rainfall total, with 2 of those 6 inches falling last week, the Local Weather Radar was the most popular webpage. Hard to make one blanket statement about the fishing because those who did the best were the ones that raced out each time weather conditions improved, having their best luck just prior to the approaching rain. For example, Derek & Milt Myhre did best the evening they arrived, and then on their “one last time” on Thursday evening, boating at least 30 walleyes in that short outing.
The bait of choice seemed to vary, with groups catching most of their fish on crawlers or leeches, but it seemed to be one or the other when they got on active fish. Jeff Rolfson caught a nice 44″ muskie while fishing walleyes, and his dad Les was successful landing the fish in their walleye net – a feat that usually doesn’t turn out that way! As far as tactic, slip bobbers, lindy rigs, jigs and crankbaits all continue to produce fish.
Our guests caught and released the following fish and several groups reported enough eaters to eat fish here and take some home as well.
