Lake Vermilion musky action picks up. There were a good number seen, with multiples on the same spot. The bite seems to have improved. Unfortunately there were many near misses along with several lessons learned for next time. Travis Meintz got a small one on his first trip out on Saturday. He followed it up with a nice 48″ that you can see them boat and release here on the August 14th post they shared on our FB page:

Joe Richie spent some time with Josh Borovsky, and boated the 42.5″ shown above. Josh got a 44″. There have been several sub 40’s caught. On their first day on the water this week, guests who arrived Saturday are having success.
The small mouth bass continue to be the most reliable bite. Walleye fishing has continued to be up and down. The Schult crew only fished one day of their visit, but they made the most of it. They were 2 short of their 4 limits of eyes and enjoyed a nice fish fry. The Lake Vermilion water temp is making its late summer drop, ranging from 68 to 70. Just depends on where you are.
Some of the fish we heard about last week include: 19.5″ large mouth bass for Nicole Peterson, 18.5″ smallie for Jason Peterson, 18″ smallies for Tony Sliger and Jake Besser, 48″ musky for Travis Meintz, 42.5″ musky for Joe Richie, and several nice northerns.
Labor Day weekend is fast approaching. While we have a full house this week, there are some short stays the week of August 24th and just one cabin open for that full week. In fact we can offer our Labor Day Special in that one cabin that is left. https://everettbaylodge.com/specials/. We have 2 cabins open for Labor Day weekend. We had a cancellation in the big house the week of September 7th, and a change in dates for another party has freed up the week in Cabin 5. There are a handful of spots left to get that last trip north while the leaves are falling on the book.
Stop wishing…come fishing!
