Lake Vermilion mid-September fishing news has varied, with some guests doing very well on walleyes and jumbo perch while others have spent their time chasing muskies. While muskies have been seen in both weeds and on the rocks, they have been reluctant to bite in most cases. Dan Andrews was able to boat a couple – a 47″ and a 45″- but those were the recent muskie highlights. Guests who were targeting northerns had great success last week too, with a couple 50+ fish days reported. They were generous with the details of their hot spot, and their neighbors went out and caught some too.
Lake Vermilion walleye fishing has been a little better, with the bait house evidence pointing to plenty of eaters being caught and cleaned. Guests who checked in last evening are having their first fish fry of the week for lunch on Sunday, so they are optimistic it will be a good week for them. For walleyes minnows, crawlers and artificial baits are all producing fish. We have some Lake Vermilion first-timers who had success their first evening out last night, so that is always a nice way to start the week.
Fish we heard about include:
Muskies: 47″ Dan Andrews. 45″ Dan Andrews.
Walleyes: 25″ Dan Andrews. 22″ Dave Gooden. 21″ Dave Gooden. 20.5″ Eileen Whitehead.
Largemouth Bass: 21″ Jeffrey Lovell. 19″ Jake McNutt.
Hard to believe the end of September is quick approaching. While we are full this week with the exception of a Wed. & Thurs. night stay, we have a spot starting on the 24th and another on the 25th if one last trip north is on your agenda.
Stop wishing…..Come fishing!
