It was a mixed week of fishing for our guests, with the early week walleye bite holding strong, only to taper off a bit as the mayfly hatch began to go full swing. Dave Jozwiak caught a nice 25.5″ walleye early in his stay, only to be trumped by his fishing partner and wife, Monica, who caught a terrific 30″ walleye, making our Everett Bay Lodge Wall of Fame on her first trip to Vermilion. They also caught a good number of “eater” walleyes.

Fortunately for those interested in the bass fishing, it was a great week of activity for smallies, with some nice largemouth caught as well. There were many, many smallies that were over 3 lbs. caught.

While the muskies finally started to show up on the rocks, it was with more lazy follows than aggressive eating. Brian Hoeg caught a 43″ Muskie on light tackle – 10lb test line.

Fish our guests told us about include:

30″ Walleye – Monica Jozwiak
25.5″ Walleye – Dave Jozwiak
43″ Muskie – Brian Hoeg
18.5″ Smallmouth Bass – Mark Bergeron
18″ Smallmouth Bass – Monica Jozwiak
Tamara Stacey X 2
David Stacey X 8
Brian Hoeg
18″ Largemouth Bass – David Jozwiak

As of Saturday afternoon, the water temps had worked their way up past the mid 70’s. Sunday’s steady rain all afternoon and into the evening will leave it to work its way back up again after this wet pattern works its way through the area.
