Everett Bay Lodge February News

Everett Bay Lodge February news finds us back from the Chicagoland Fishing, Travel & Outdoor Expo.  What a great time it was to see so many of our guests who make that area their home.  We met some new guests who have made plans to stay with us this year, and crossed paths with some young adults who came up to the booth and reminisced [...]

Nice days ahead on Lake Vermilion

Nice days ahead on Lake Vermilion should offer up some great fishing before the next round of rain comes our way.  We are in the thick of the end of the season wrap up, and will enjoy being outdoors the next three days when 60 degree temps tempt us to sneak out on the water.  BUT, the weather that follows later in the week will [...]

September fishing action on Lake Vermilion

September fishing action on Lake Vermilion was best for walleyes, perch and some normally elusive crappies.  First for the crappies.  While they are most often caught in the early part of the season, a couple different cabins happened upon them.  They caught some nice sized ones in 30+ feet of water.  Several other guests caught some smallies remarking on the aggressive fight they offered.  Musky [...]

Lake Vermilion August news

Lake Vermilion August news brings more of the same - great weeks for some of our guests...a little tougher for others.  An early stay outing with a guide for the Lane group was productive. They kept several walleyes for the skillet and released the nice 25"er shown above caught by Kelsey.  Guests had mixed reports, with those that caught walleyes doing well with crawlers in 18 [...]

Lake Vermilion musky action picks up.

Lake Vermilion musky action picks up.  There were a good number seen, with multiples on the same spot.  The bite seems to have improved.  Unfortunately there were many near misses along with several lessons learned for next time.  Travis Meintz got a small one on his first trip out on Saturday.  He followed it up with a nice 48" that you can see them boat [...]

Lake Vermilion Fishing News

Lake Vermilion fishing news finds us at the end of July, with some guests working to catch their walleyes while others have capitalized on more cooperative bass.  Unfortunately last week was frustrating for several guests who found huge pods of fish on the screen that were less than eager to bite.  There were some who did well with limits of walleyes on crawlers, but more [...]

Late July fishing on Lake Vermilion

Late July fishing on Lake Vermilion had its ups and downs last week, with walleyes beginning to spring back from a middle of the month tougher bite.  Musky fishing wasn't spectacular, but there were fish seen on numerous spots and several near misses made for some excitement.   There were a few sub 40's caught.   As has been the case, the most consistent bite has been [...]

Mayflies made their mark on Lake Vermilion

Mayflies made their mark on Lake Vermilion --- Some years it matters - some years it doesn't.  Consensus is that this year the mayfly HATCHES mattered.  Just when we thought the end was in sight, another round of mayflies greeted us again.  It seemed as if the week was going to be a good one when a late trip to the bait house to turn [...]

Lake Vermilion area attractions

Lake Vermilion area attractions kept 8 year old Eli and 5 year old Abel busy as they spent last week taking advantage of the many things to see and do in Northeast Minnesota.  Rain in the early part of their stay didn't get in the way of their trip to the Soudan Mine https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/lake_vermilion_soudan/tours.html.  They were especially interested in taking in some of the local [...]

Lake Vermilion June fishing news

Lake Vermilion June fishing news includes the long overdue arrival of warmer temperatures.  The water temp is finally making its move up, with Everett Bay reaching 75 degrees after stalling in the 60's for several weeks.  The night time lows are predicted to stay in the 50's so it should help avoid those big overnight drops.  After another chilly start to the week, guests welcomed [...]
