Summer has arrived on Lake Vermilion, although it took a long time to get here!  Water temps took a nice jump up this past week, climbing over 5 degrees to pass the 80 degree mark.  So what’s that done to the fishing?  Depends who you ask.  It definitely made the pool a popular place as many families with children spent the week with us on Lake Vermilion.

The walleye fishing was reported to be strong and steady for some, while others found lots of bait on the screen and many pods of fish reluctant to take the bait.  Guests ate some fish and released some larger ones as well.  Aaron Bennett caught the 28.5″ walleye shown below.

Muskies were up and down too, back and forth with a day of many fish being seen followed by a day of no sightings at all.  Some large fish were lost and there were some fish under 40″ caught, as well as those listed below.

Some of the fish our guests released include:

Smallmouth Bass:  20″ Aaron Bennett

Muskies:  43.5″ Bill Janz, 43″ Jason Wenzel, 42″ Dennis Janz

Walleyes:  28.5″ Aaron Bennett, 23″ Doug Miller, 23″ Doug Miller, 23″ Doug Miller  (Yes, he caught 3.)  22″ Chuck Barner

Just passed the half way point of the season, so if you haven’t finalized your plans for a trip north this year, now is the time.   We have some short stays next Tuesday through Saturday (August 8 – 11), one spot the week of August 11th, and a couple each week starting on August 26th.

Stop wishing…..Come fishing!
