Mid August Lake Vermilion fishing – Everett Bay Lodge guests had mixed results.  In short, some of everything was caught, but it wasn’t the easiest week on the lake.  Guys fishing for Bass caught Muskies, guys fishing for Muskies caught Bass, and there were some walleyes caught – both eaters and larger ones.  The Henseler boys along with nearly 40 of their relatives, spent their family reunion up here, and they quickly realized a net would have been a good thing when their first muskie of the trip wanted their bass bait.  They were ready and armed with a loaner net for the second muskie that came along, and while they were successful getting the second one in the boat too, the net had battle scars.    As guys pre-fished the lake for the weekend’s bass tournament, many were very surprised by the plentiful muskie action their baits garnered.  In fact, Brian Korfmacher boated a 52″ muskie.  Congrats to Brian Post and Joe Shaw on their 3rd place finish in the Cabela’s N. A. Bass Circuit Lake Vermilion tournament.   The whole Bimson family got in on the smallie action as even the pre-k youngsters caught them.

A quick late week outing for Dave on Friday afternoon found him relieved that walleyes that had been plentiful on the screen for weeks had finally decided it was time to bite.  He brought home his 4 eaters and 2 nice jumbos for the perfect dinner.  Sounds like the main lake reefs are producing on crawlers.

Some of the fish our guests caught & released include:

Walleyes:  25″ Dan Brown, 22″ Marco Farfan

Smallies:  19″ Dan Brown

Muskies: 52″ Brian Korfmacher, 42″ Dan Brown, 40.5″ Nick Henseler, 40″ Nick Henseler, 39″ John Jurcy.

It is an unusual forecast with a 55 degree and rainy Wednesday coming our way, but the relief of 70 degrees vs. 85+ sure feels good.   Looking ahead to the remainder of the month, cabin 10 – the little one bedroom, offers an economic option for that last quick get-a-way to the lake.  We have a couple 2 bedrooms open as well.  We have 1 two bedroom cabin left and a larger option as well for Labor Day weekend.  Give us a call and come north!
