Lake Vermilion ice out 2016 will be recorded as April 25th this year, although it could likely have been April 24th.  Uncooperative weather got in the way of the typical ice checks done by airplane and heavy cloud cover made satellite images difficult to discern as well.  Every day earlier than the long term April 29th average makes one more day to prep for the season, with the last of the dock pellets on today, a process that began as soon as Everett Bay cleared on the 17th.

Although opener weekend is full, there is one spot for the 2nd weekend of the season and one spot left for Memorial Day weekend.  Looking forward to seeing many familiar faces in just a few weeks!
