August fishing on Lake Vermilion has found smallmouth and largemouth bass action staying strong.  A good number of decent bass have been caught and released, along with a couple outings of over 30 northern caught, several in the 30 – 36″ range.  Walleye fishing has continued to produce mainly eater size fish, but we’d expect to see some larger ones as the weeks in August move ahead toward September.  Bluegill action offering up some good hand sized eaters was fun for a couple groups as well last week.  Already this week it sounds like there are a couple cabins eating fish every day.  Thanks to Michele for sharing the picture shown below.  Hop on over to our Facebook page to see some others that were posted.  https://www.facebook.com/Everett.BayLodge.Lake.Vermilion

Lake Vermilion smallmouth bass

Michele Kamholz 4 lb Lake Vermilion smallie.

Fish we heard about include:

  • 36″ Northern:  Shawn McCoy
  • 35″ Northern:  Jerry Graczyk
  • 19″ Smallmouth Bass:  Michele Kamholz
  • 18″ Smallmouth Bass:  Shawn McCoy
  • 18″ Smallmouth Bass:  Dan Wojtkiewicz
  • 18″ Smallmouth Bass:  Dave Shade

Muskie action continues to be inconsistent, with a couple missed fish creating some long faces.  The action this week seems to be picking up, with a 49″ caught & released yesterday and more frequent reports of boils and blowups.   Stop wishing……Come fishing!!
