Mayflies

2006-06-17

Those mayflies were due to hatch early this year because of the warm weather and they hatched this past week consistently. Fishing was slow for walleye early last week for walleye, but picked up as the wind started to blow later in the week. The bass were still being caught in calm conditions and all week. Bluegill were in shallow on bright sunny calm days.

Last week did see some big walleyes released. David Johnson released a 25. C J Johnson released a 23. Jerry Johnson released a 22 and Andy Gunderman (age 6) released a 20 1/2.

Some big smallies released included Tom Keefe 21", Harold Turner 19 1/2" and Ryan Bennett 19". Megan Raleigh (age 8) released a 18 1/2" large mouth.

My son hooked a 45" muskie on light tackle. We followed it around for about ten minutes before his 6 lb. mono was sliced by the toothy critter right at the boat. He had fun.

The new playset was complete early last week!
