Another cool week weather wise. Highs
have been in the 50-60s with lows in the 30-40s. Very
unusual for this time of year. The Vana's boated two muskie
this past week, a 40 and a 44. David caught the bigger one,
his personal best. Mike caught a 38 inch northern as well.
Smallmouth action has been fairly
consistent off rockpiles. Matt Koonce caught a 21" smallie
and several other nice fish were released during the week.
Some were taken on leeches others on crankbaits.
The walleye action continues right
before dark. A new trolling pattern seems to be developing
on the flats after 3:00 pm. Maybe some welcome normalcy.
We've seen this pattern in years past develop. It looks like
the walleye have totally skipped the summer patterns of
years past because of the lack of warmer water temperatures.
With water temps staying close to the low 60s in Big Bay and
sometimes into the 50's in the shallow bays, fall has come
early. Or should I say the summer never arrived.
May your pole always be bent! Dave
