The Mesabi Daily News reports in today's
paper that the fishing is slow on the West and East ends of
Vermilion according to reports from bait shops. They
obviously didn't ask us or cabins #5, #10, #7, #8, or #9.
We've had people with week long stays that arrived on
Saturday have limits of walleye, bass, northern and bluegill
by Monday. They're eating fish everyday so they can catch
and keep a few more before they leave. One of these groups
I'm speaking of have never fished the lake before.
Last evening Diane and I managed 23
walleyes in 2 hours. The first half hour was slow, she only
caught two.
Yesterday, Mike Rosinski had a 50"
muskie to the boat 4 times and had the hooks caught in the
net before the big girl broke free and swam away. He said
the fish was still "to green to be netted." Better luck next
time.
May your pole always be bent! Dave
