First 2004 Report

2004-04-29

The ice came off our bay last Saturday. Big Bay followed two days later. We still haven't heard the official date yet. It may be Tuesday the 27th. We've made our annual stops at the Pike River Hatchery to see some really nice walleye. Actually saw a trapped ten pound, 30 inch male a very rare sight. Duane Williams the Vermilion DNR Fisheries chief said he'd, "never seen a male that big."

We have high water here this year after two years of being a little low. The lake should be fertile and active. High water usually helps the fishing. If you haven't made your summer plans yet, give us a call and we'll get you going to one of the best lakes in Minnesota. Dave
