Well the water was
getting into the mid sixties, and then a cold front went
through on Monday. Dropped the water temperature in the
bays over 15 degrees in 24 hours . Slowed a hot bite down
to a crawl. Shouldn't be long though, more stable weather
is coming by Friday.
Walleyes have been caught all over the place in a variety
of methods. Crankbaits trolled or casting have produced
some nice fish. Jigs have done well when biters have been
located off islands.
Muskies have been seen regularly spawning in shallow. A
few have accidently been hooked by walleye fishermen
trolling crankbaits. Northern have been thick in the
shallow weedy bays. A few large northern have been quickly
released back into the water (aka before they got into the
boat).
Smallmouth have started to bite. When the water temps get
back above 60, bass will really start to get exciting.
